Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a new book?
There are two ways to add a book:
- Tap the "+" tab at the bottom of the screen
- Tap "New Book" button
- Fill in the book details (title, author, number of pages)
- Optionally add a cover photo from your camera or photo library
- Tap "Save" to create the book
Or when adding a quote, tap "New Book" if the book isn't already in your library.
How do I save a quote?
To save a quote:
- Tap the "+" tab at the bottom
- Select a book from your library (or add a new one)
- Type or paste the quote text
- Enter the page number
- Tap "Add Quote"
How do I delete a book or quote?
To delete a book: Long press (press and hold for about 1 second) on the book cover in the Home screen, then confirm deletion. This will also delete all quotes associated with that book.
To delete a quote: Long press on the quote in the quote timeline view, then confirm deletion.
How do I edit my profile?
To edit your profile:
- Tap the "Profile" tab at the bottom
- Tap "Edit profile" button or tap on your profile information
- Update your name, reading goal, or profile picture
- Tap "Save" to save your changes
Can I add a custom cover for my books?
Yes! When adding or editing a book, you can:
- Take a photo of the book cover using your camera
- Select an existing photo from your photo library
- Leave it blank to use the default placeholder
Is my data backed up?
All data is stored locally on your device. Your data is included in your device's standard iOS backup (iCloud or iTunes backup). However, Qoutee itself does not sync or backup your data to any cloud service.
We recommend regularly backing up your device to avoid losing your quote collection.
Can I export my quotes?
Currently, Qoutee does not have a built-in export feature. This feature may be added in future updates based on user feedback.
Why can't I add photos?
If you're having trouble adding photos, please check that:
- You've granted Qoutee permission to access your camera and photo library in Settings > Privacy > Camera/Photos
- You have enough storage space on your device
- Your device's camera is working properly
What iOS version do I need?
Qoutee requires iOS 18.5 or later. The app is compatible with iPhone and iPad.
Troubleshooting
The app is crashing or not working properly
Try these steps:
- Force close the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Make sure you have the latest version of Qoutee from the App Store
- Make sure your iOS is up to date
- If the problem persists, contact support
My quotes or books disappeared
Data is stored locally on your device. If your data disappeared:
- Check if you accidentally deleted the items (they cannot be recovered)
- Make sure you're using the same device where you created the data
- If you recently restored your device, check if you have a backup to restore from
Photos not displaying correctly
If book covers or profile pictures aren't showing:
- Make sure you have enough storage space
- Try removing and re-adding the photo
- Restart the app
