1. Scope and Overview

Qoutee is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how our application collects, uses, stores, and shares information. We value your privacy and designed the app to operate with the minimum amount of personal data possible, in compliance with Apple's privacy guidelines and applicable laws.

This app is a personal quote journal with text, emotions, tags, and photo attachment features. The app was designed to function locally on your device, without creating accounts, requiring registration, or sending your data to our own servers. We do not use user tracking for advertising or behavioral profiling purposes.

2. Data Collection

Data You Create

When you use Qoutee, you create and store the following types of data:

  • Book information (titles, authors, page counts)
  • Quotes you save from books
  • Photos you upload for book covers or profile pictures
  • Your profile information (name and reading goals)
  • Tags and emotions associated with your entries

System Permissions

Access to your photos only when you choose to import images for book covers or profile pictures. The app requests the standard iOS/iPadOS permission.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect: name, email, location, device identifiers, contacts, calendars, health data, usage data for marketing, or any data for tracking across apps and websites.

3. Where and How Data is Stored

Local Storage

All data is stored locally on your device. Your data is saved on the device itself using local persistence technologies (for example, SwiftData). Qoutee does not:

  • Upload your data to any servers
  • Use cloud storage services
  • Sync your data across devices
  • Share your data with third parties
  • Collect analytics or tracking information

System Backups

Your data may be included in device backups, such as iCloud backups, depending on your iOS/iPadOS settings. We do not control these backups; management is done by the operating system and your preferences.

No Third-Party Servers

We do not transmit your data to third-party servers for processing or storage. Your data remains entirely under your control and is stored in your device's local storage using Apple's SwiftData framework.

4. Data Use

Primary Purpose

Display, organize, and edit your own journal entries, quotes, emotions, tags, and photos.

Export and Sharing

You can voluntarily export and share your entries through the system's sharing options (for example, generating a summary and using "Share"). The exported content is under your control and responsibility.

Photos and Camera Access

Qoutee requests access to your camera and photo library only when you choose to:

  • Add a book cover image
  • Set a profile picture

These permissions are optional. If you choose not to grant these permissions, you can still use all other features of the app. Photos you select are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded anywhere.

5. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not share your data with third parties for advertising, behavioral analysis, or user profiling.

Apple system integrations (for example, photo picker/PhotosPicker) operate under iOS/iPadOS policies and respect the permissions you grant.

6. Tracking and Advertising

  • We do not perform tracking across third-party apps and websites
  • We do not display personalized advertisements
  • We do not use advertising identifiers
  • Qoutee does not use any third-party services, analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking technologies

7. Security

We employ iOS/iPadOS security features and local app storage. Since all data is stored locally on your device:

  • Your data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
  • We do not have access to your data
  • Your data is as secure as your device

We recommend protecting your device with a password/Face ID/Touch ID and keeping the system updated to reduce risks of unauthorized access.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention

Data remains on the device as long as the app is installed or until you delete it.

Deletion in App

You can delete any data you've created at any time within the app:

  • Delete individual quotes by long-pressing them
  • Delete books by long-pressing them (this also deletes all associated quotes)
  • You can delete entries, emotions, and tags directly on the editing screens

Once deleted, this data is not available in the app.

Uninstallation

Removing the app from your device deletes the app's local data. Data that exists in system backups may remain according to your backup settings. Since we don't store your data on any servers, deleting the app from your device permanently removes all your data. There is no backup or recovery possible after deletion.

Exports

Content you export and share is not controlled by the app; manage it at the destination where it was sent.

9. Children's Privacy

The app is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, delete it in the app and, if necessary, contact us. Qoutee is designed to be safe for users of all ages since all data remains on the user's device.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights such as:

Access, Correct, or Delete Data

The app provides means to manage and delete your data locally. Since all your data is stored locally on your device and we have no access to it:

  • You have complete control over your data
  • You can export, backup, or delete your data at any time through iOS settings
  • You don't need to request data deletion from us since we don't have your data

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. The most recent version will be available with the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
